I’m Laurie – the “L” of LJCrochet.  I’ve been crocheting most of my life but in recent years I learned to knit as well and enjoy making fun hats and scarves for the chilly Michigan months.  Soon after learning to knit, I discovered the fun of creating Amigurumi (small stuffed crocheted or knitted toys) and I’ve been having a blast exploring the patterns available and discovering what I can make.

The “J” is my late Aunt Jackie who taught me to crochet at a very young age and fostered my love of all things crafty throughout her life.  I was fortunate enough to spend a lot of time with her while I was growing up and one of our favorite things to do together was crafting down in her basement.

She not only taught me how to crochet, she also taught me about ceramics, calligraphy and many other skills.  There was always something fun and creative to do at Aunt Jackie’s house.  I think of her often when I’m making new creations and I know she would be so proud to see me making items that I hope will bring positivity and brightness into the lives of those who receive them.
